Atlanta has proudly committed to sustainability goals of 100% clean energy for city-owned buildings by 2025 and city-wide clean energy by 2035. At the forefront of this initiative is the Mayor’s Office of Resilience. In an effort to frame their city’s ambitions, the Office of Resilience held a screening of Chasing Coral within Atlanta’s City Council Chambers. At the panel discussion after the film, the Office shared their intention for the 100% renewables goal to be for the city by the city. As such, the Mayor’s Office of Resilience educated audience members on the different outlets for community feedback on the 100% goals, including an online survey and upcoming town halls. The Office left audience members with steps they could take to support the commitment in their own everyday lives such as composting, using reusable water bottles and grocery bags, and installing energy-efficient upgrades.
